Overview

Protect the casino assets and watch for liabilities. Conducts and supervises training and development of surveillance staff by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

 

  • Evaluates the daily operations of the casino for improprieties, which may occur and takes appropriate actions to minimize any adverse effects.
  • Maintains communication between surveillance and casino operations.
  • Creates and pass along necessary report to the Tribal Gaming Commission, California State Police, local law enforcement agencies, and Federal agencies and appropriate departments or persons.
  • Interacts with law enforcement, district attorneys, federal agencies and other casino surveillance departments as needed. Send information to other casinos using surveillance network as required.
  • Instructs and evaluates surveillance employees on techniques and use of equipment.
  • Ensures proper reports and logs are being complied accurately by surveillance agents.
  • Continuously monitors the surveillance department for changes and offers advice to the department manager on appropriate actions necessary to improve the overall operations of the department.
  • Maintains open communication and works in conjunction with Tribal Gaming Commission, California State Police, local law enforcement agencies and other departments to ensure safety and integrity in the casino.
  • Maintains a daily communication log for the use of department management.
  • Must learn, comprehend and comply with all company policies and procedures, Minimum Internal Control Standards or MICS, Gaming Regulations and Regulation 31 requirements.
  • Develops and implements appropriate training plans.
  • Evaluates, monitors and records student progress through statistical and subjective testing process.
  • Maintains records and tracks training hours for students.
  • Discusses and assists management to assess training needs.
  • Conducts on the job training to individual employees or groups of employees.
  • Formulates teaching outline and determines instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops.
  • Tests and surveys trainees and management to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training.
  • Reports on progress of employees under guidance during training periods.
  • Responsible for providing training to appropriate staff in counterfeit currency detection, scams, card counting, surveillance coverage, and other areas as instructed by the Surveillance Manager.
  • Develop training manuals for agents and supervisors.

 Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises Surveillance Monitors in the surveillance department. Is responsible for the direction, coordination, and

evaluation of agents. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Must be able to satisfactorily complete training on the following types of games conducted: Blackjack, Pai Gow, Texas Shoot-out, 3 card poker, Keno, bingo, Craps Roulette, Let It Ride, Seven Card Stud, Texas’ Hold-Em, Big Six Wheel, Sports Book, and VLT’S.

 

As a condition of employment with Rolling Hills Casino Surveillance personnel are prohibited from dating employees, living with employees or having an immediate relative (spouse, child, father, mother, sister, brother, grandfather, grandmother or grandchild) working at Rolling Hills Casino. In addition, Surveillance personnel may not transfer to another position.

 

Education and/or Experience

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from technical school and one years of experience in casino surveillance; or equivalent combination of education. Two year of previous supervisory experience is required. Must have working knowledge of all components of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems. Advanced knowledge of surveillance operations and techniques requires. Must have computer experience with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and e-mail. Must be certified in all games.
