Operates and maintains all water wells, water treatment, water pumping and water distribution system. Operates and maintains water reclamation facility.   Ensures that the equipment and systems are properly operated and maintained per the relevant federal standards.  Ensures that facilities are clean and maintained in an as new condition.


  • Operation and maintenance of the domestic water treatment and distribution systems and wastewater treatment and collection system.
  • Works closely with the Water & Wastewater Treatment Manager to develop and implement scheduled and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Insures that projects are scheduled do not interfere with routine maintenance and operation.
  • Assists the Water & Wastewater Treatment Manager in preparing the operating and capital budgets for the water and wastewater facilities and controls expenditures within those budgets.
  • Plans the purchasing of supplies, equipment, and services.
  • Identifies and coordinates training needs with the Water & Wastewater Treatment Manager.
  • Keeps informed on federal rules and regulations affecting the facility.
  • Outlines, prioritizes, and completes maintenance projects.
  • Order equipment and materials for water and wastewater systems.
  • Performs job duties and operation of equipment with an emphasis on safety.
  • Performs laboratory testing of water and wastewater per the Standard Methods and Federal requirements.
  • Operates and maintains water treatment facilities, including well, storage, disinfection, and water softening.
  • Operates water reclamation systems, biosolids systems, pumps, instrumentation, and wastewater treatment equipment.
  • Safely handles chlorine, acid, and other hazardous chemicals.
  • Ensures that effluent meets federal standards.
  • Responsible for maintaining records and preparing reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has supervisory responsibilities.


Education and/or Experience

Three or more years experience in the operation or maintenance of water and/or wastewater treatment facilities. Have good communication and public relation skills. Have technical knowledge of water and wastewater systems and equipment. Be familiar with preventative and corrective maintenance procedures. Be familiar with the procedures and safety requirements when using chlorine.  Able to provide material and labor costs related to specific maintenance jobs. Be knowledgeable in safety procedures related to all work performed. Be proficient in plan reading and able to interpret manufacturer’s literature and manuals as they pertain to the treatment systems.





Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, chemical data sheets, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  The candidate should be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of mangers and have the ability to speak effectively before employees of the organization.


Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  The candidate should have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentage, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Reasoning Ability

Should be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Gaming License issued by the Paskenta Gaming Commission.  Valid CA driver’s license. Should have and maintain a California State Water Resources Control Board or ITCA Wastewater Treatment Operator and/or  Water Treatment Operator Certification.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently expose to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, risk of electrical shock, wet, warm, hot and/or humid conditions, fumes and airborne particles, tobacco smoke, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
