  • Overview

    This position of Timbers Steakhouse Cook consists of managing the daily preparation of food items for a station on the Timbers Steakhouse cook line, cooking and plating all food orders in an efficient and attractive manner. This position also assists in the training of other cooks and communicates effectively with other staff members to complete daily production in a timely manner. Must be self-motivated with a desire to learn and have a passion for quality food.


    • Reads and interprets tickets, menu items, recipes, cooking instructions, cook and prepare orders for the timbers line
    • Demonstrates effective time management skills and an ability to multitask
    • Uses proper knife handling skills and techniques
    • Creating daily specials with appropriate accompaniments, flavor profile and food cost
    • Practical application of various cooking methods, use of ingredients, equipment operation and departmental procedures
    • Accurately follows instructions or recipes given by supervisor
    • Prepares food for service, including but not limited to: chopping vegetables, butchering meat, preparing sauces)
    • Maintains accurate daily par amounts for service, through the use of production sheets.
    • Executes of various cooking techniques (smoking, sautéing, baking, braising, broiling, poaching, frying, grilling, etc.) for meat, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
    • Adjusts seasoning on food to proper specifications
    • Composes an eye appealing presentation for appetizers, salads, entrees, and desserts
    • Works together as a team to achieve customer satisfaction.
    • Follows all food safety, sanitation, and HACCP guidelines when preparing and storing hot and cold foods.
    • Follows established company and departmental standards for personal appearance and behavior.
    • Successfully demonstrates the ability to work efficiently on the Timbers line ala carte kitchen
    • Assists in new hire training
    • Communicates with prep cooks and supervisors about issues regarding quality and quantity of foods prepared.
    • Demonstrates practical application of all cooking techniques regularly used in a professional manner for ala carte and batch cookery, including but not limited to: smoking, sautéing, baking, braising, broiling, poaching, frying and grilling
    • Demonstrates the proper use and cleaning procedures of all major kitchen equipment such as Broilers, griddle, fryer, woks, ovens, skillets, kettles, and refrigerator units
    • Ability to handle high stress situations while maintaining composure and a positive outlook
    • Self-motivated and accountable for your work area and those around you using positive reinforcement and effective communication to complete daily production and end of shift transitions
    • Demonstrate the ability to effectively train other cooks, communicate effectively with other cooks, prep cooks and supervisors
    • Other duties as assigned.



    • Minimum 18 years of age
    • Slip resistant shoes

    Education and/or Experience

    High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and one year related work experience and training required. Experience with high volume cooking or fine dining required.


    Language Skills

    Must have the Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, menus, recipes, short correspondence, and memos.


    Mathematical Skills

    Must have an ability to add/subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. You must also be able to scale using a standardized recipe.


    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations 

    Gaming license issued by the Paskenta Gaming Commission; Food handler’s permit from a relevant government agency.
